Frequently asked
What is Rimtal?
Rimtal shows time the way the Norse reckoned it. Instead of hours and minutes you see which day-mark you're in (such as Miðnætti, Morgunn or Hádegi), which misseri and old month it is (like Sólmánuðr), and which week of the summer or winter half-year you're in.
What is a day-mark?
The Norse day was divided into eight parts — day-marks — instead of 24 hours. Each part points to a direction of the sky, and the wheel in the app shows where in the day you are right now.
What does sumarauki mean?
Sumarauki is a leap week occasionally added to the summer half-year so the Norse calendar keeps pace with the solar year. The app works this out automatically and shows the week count for the current misseri.
Is there an Apple Watch app?
Yes. Rimtal runs on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, so you can read Norse time right from your wrist.
Is any of my data sent anywhere?
No. The app collects no data and has no tracking. Everything is computed locally on your device. See the privacy policy for details.
